Waiting is definitely one of the hardest things to do, especially if you have been waiting for a long time and you are not seeing the expected results. I know that place very well. As a matter of fact, currently, there are many things I am waiting on God for. What keeps me going or hanging on and not giving up? The Lord’s integrity and His ability. I was listening to a servant of God speak about this some time back. The Lord Jesus Christ is a Man of His word. He spoke it, you’d better believe that He will do it. He has the ability to do what He has promised in His word, He is well able to. He raised the dead, He made the blind to see, He made the lame to walk. He defied nature and walked on water, He parted the Red Sea. The demands and expectations of the society can be a great downer. For example if you are an older woman who is not yet married, or who does not have children, a divorcé, it is expected for you to have finished school and have a very lucrative career or business before you hit your 30s etc. These very things can make you want to take the lead and “follow your heart”. Well, the Bible in Jeremiah 17:9 says this:
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?”
Do not trust your heart as is the saying most people who are not born again or those who do not read the Bible go by. But trust God.
Keep waiting, keep holding on. Don’t give up.
The servant of God, David ( in the Bible), would encourage Himself in the Lord whenever situations got him down. Play worship music, talk to the Lord and tell Him how you feel, after all, He knows what you are going through. He listens. Magnify Him above your situation. Call a friend and pray together.
You can simply say something like, “Lord, I know you said this and this but right now I feel like giving up. But I look to You, only You can get me through this. I don’t have the strength or the means but You are the capable God. I trust in you.”
Read scriptures that pertain to your situation. As hard as it is not to think about your problems, do not linger on them. Whatever you linger on, becomes magnified. Remember that.
“Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”
Romans 4:20-21 NLT
Be encouraged child of God.
